GD Breslin Music

My name is Gerry Dougie Breslin, I have been in the music business for 40 years. I began singing and playing Acoustic guitar as a 2 piece Folk duo ‘Powderfinger’. We gigged in local pubs around Derry and our repertoire consisted of Beatles, Dylan Young, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel etc. Folk based with nice harmonies. We brought a Bass player/singer into the unit and changed our name to ‘Failte’ incoporating Christy Moore, Furey Brothers, and Irish Classics Into our set. We began travelling to Donegal and Venues outside Derry and made our first single ‘Chiefs of Inishowen/The Old man’.

This band grew further when two Irish musicians joined playing fiddle and mandolin. Another name change ‘Pangur Ban’ we now played everything. Irish, folk, pop and also had a reputation for entertaining our audiences. I took a hiatus for a few years before starting a Frank Sinatra Tribute Show in Benidorm Spain and was fairly successful before moving back to Ireland. In my later years I’ve returned to songwriting and have recorded 2 CDs of original material. My present gigs consist of a variety of music, Rat Pack, Michael Bublé solo gigs in hotels, rock, pop, musicals, country, Irish Solo sets at the weekends and a regular residency every Wednesday playing Acoustic Guitar. Also a duet residency with Steven O’ Carolan, every Sunday night in Peadars Irish Bar.
